Celebration of the 70th Republic Day at Sacred Heart College (26-01-2019)
A Reminiscence of the Past

The Fervor of Freedom, the 26th January recalled the nostalgic occasion of this red-letter day.  Republic Day was celebrated with pride and patriotism at Sacred Heart College on 26th January 2019. Rev. Dr. C. Antony Raj, Rector, Rev. Dr. D. Maria Antony Raj, the Principal, Rev. Dr. K. A. Maria Arockiaraj, the Additional Principal, Rev. Dr. Praveen Peter, the Vice Principal, Rev. Dr. G. Theophil Anand, the Vice Principal, shift II, the Salesian community, Heads of the departments and other faculty paid their tribute to the nation. The entire college’s courtyard was resplendent in the shades of tricolour.

  The festivities commenced on a musical note. The N.C.C. Officer and the NCC Cadets reverberated the feelings of patriotism, offering their guard of honour to the chief guest. It was followed by the Message from the principal of the college on the significance of the occasion. Rev. Dr. D. Maria Antony Raj, the Principal, recalled the history of how our freedom fighters demonstrated their patriotism on this day.  He urged the youth to feel the spirit of this great nation. The NCC officer Dr. K. Sivakumar introduced the chief-guest. The ceremony began with the hoisting of the tricolor, the pride of the Nation by the revered Chief Guest Prof. A. Periyanayagasamy, Department of Economics. The spectacular NCC drill, stole the hearts of everyone. The power and energy exhibited by the youngsters was filling to the occasion; showed their commitment and dedication, assured of a brighter future ahead. The Chief Guest in his speech exhorted the student to be proud of our Republic. The speaker underlined that it is very important to realize the history of this nation so as to carry forward the democratic fabrics of the country for the future generation. Everyone took a pledge to uphold the honour, integrity, dignity and uniqueness of our nation. A vote of thanks was tabled by the Anchors in the end.
