Community Day and Pongal Celebration     

The Community Day of Sacred Heart College, being one of the moments to remindus of the unity, spirit and solidarity that unites and keeps the Salesians, the Management, the staff and students as a joyful family, was fittingly celebrated in the month of January, on 11/01/2020, at KamarajarArangam tohonour our beloved Rector, Rev.Dr. Antony Raj. It was fitting because it’s the month of Pongalthat reminds us of our Tamil culture, being one of the ancient and unique cultures in the world.

        The Day was brightened with the celebration of the Holy mass, led by Rev.Dr.C.Antonyraj, the Secretary. It was followed by the celebrations in the KamarajarArangam. Rev.Fr.ManiLazar’s prayer service, and presentation, was heart touching that left the audience pondering on the nature of humanity.

         Rev.Dr. D. Maria Antony Raj, the Principal, welcomed and felicitated Rev.Fr.Rector with his gracoius words and heaped praises on the capacity of father at various levels.Rev.Fr.Rector, was adorned with a shawl on behalf of the staff and students to express their love as a family. The occasion was further academically lit up by the releasing of online Journals, Journal of Functional Materials and Biomecules(Physics)headed by, Rev.Dr.G.Theophill Anand, the Vice Principal (AdministrationShift -II), and Biowings, magazine by the Department of Biochemistry.It was followedby thereleasing of Sacred Heart Times, the E- News letter of the college.

        Dr.G. Mohan Gandhi, Assistant Professor, Department of Tamil, on behalf of the teaching faculty, bestowed encomiums on the untiring serviceof Rev.Dr.C.Antonyraj.To continue the joy filled celebrations, the African Students, thrilled the audience with their stunning dance representing their tradition. The Non-Teaching staff sung a group folk song, reminding our tradition. The Salesian Community, to express their solidarity performed an action song that reverberated the audience. The Vote of Thanks was delivered byDr.S.Kalaiarasi. She thanked everyone for the joy filled celebrations.
