The Counselling Centre, Sacred Heart College in collaboration with St. Joseph’s Boys Home, Bargur organised a counseling session for 35 adolescent boys and girls with health issues. Ms. Latha Munuswamy, Counselor, Sacred Heart College along with four I M.Sc., Counselling Psychology students: Ms. Sheena Mathew, Ms. Kamili Anbalagan, Ms. Meenakeshi Umesh and Ms. Jeevitha Jayseelan organized the sessions. The young adolescents were given talk on topics related to mental health issues and its management. Ms. Sheena Mathew gave a talk on stress and management, followed by Ms. Meenakshi who spoke about the causes of suicide among young people, means to identify and manage suicidal thoughts. Ms. Kamali spoke on depression and its management, followed by Ms. Jeevitha who spoke about anxiety and its management. During the afternoon session the adolescent participants were given individual counseling by the counseling psychology students.
