International Day of Yoga
The celebration of “International Day of Yoga” began at 2.30pm at DBIS, with a prayer song and a warm welcome rendered by Prof.M.Antony Arockiasamy, NSS coordinator. Rev.Dr.C.Antony Raj, the Rector and Secretary of the college, felicitated the student community and urged them to practice the yoga that they learn today continuously so that the spiritual strength is renewed. Rev.Dr.Praveen Peter, the Vice Principal, said that Yoga teaches discipline and mental strength.  He also told the students that the practice of yoga will create a better and peaceful community.
            The resource person Mrs. B.Gayathri,BPT, Heartfulness trainer elaborated the importance of Yoga and the 8 types of Yogic practices. She explained in detail each one of them. Seventh yogic practice namely “raja yoga” deals with the meditation which is very important for mind. She gave an indepth analysis of “Heartfulness” training that focuses on meditating through heart.
            The theoretical explanation was followed by 30 minutes of guided “Heartfulness” meditation for the students. The Heartfulness Institute volunteers assisted the students to do the meditation. Around 750 students and 20 faculty members participated meaningfully and benefited. D.David from III B.Sc Maths , thanked all  for their wonderful participation and the celebration ended at 4pm.
