Annual Retreat was held for the catholic teaching members of Sacred Heart College on 6th March, 2021 at Don Bosco Matriculation Hr. Sec. School.

Retreat is a chance to purify oneself and surrender to the will of God and hence, Sacred Heart College organized a one day retreat on 6th March 2021. The retreat was held at Don Bosco Matriculation Hr. Sec. School, Tirupattur.

Rev. Fr. Linson CMI from the Retreat Centre, Soogathur, Dharmapuri District was the preacher and Mr. Joseph, his assistant helped out with  music and singing.

The retreat began with the welcome address by Rev. Dr. Praveen Peter, the Vice Principal of the College. He welcomed all the members to relax and feel the presence of God during the retreat. He introduced the preachers of the day.

In the first session at 9.00 a.m. Rev. Fr. Linson highlighted on the need for discovering the importance of getting closer to God by discovering God’s will. He quoted Luke 3:5 that reads that “Every Valley shall be filled in, every mountain and hills made low. The crooked roads shall become straight, the rough ways smooth.” He explained how God can do this perfectly. He invited all the members to surrender to the will of God and further explained how God will hate the arrogance of people. He listed five types of arrogance; the arrogance that comes from money, power, tradition, intelligence and praying or devotion. He enlightened us with the importance of how arrogance can lead to evil things.

The second session consisted of the prominence and power of Holy Communion. He appealed to everyone to partake in the Holy Communion in remembrance of the body and blood of Jesus that was broken and poured at the cross. Taking Holy Communion does not only remind us of his suffering but also shows us the amount of love Jesus had for us.

After the lunch, in the third session, Rev. Fr. Linson highlighted on the importance of confession. He said that if people genuinely felt that they had done wrong then they should confess it to God and receive His forgiveness. Confession gives us the chance to reflect on the recent past and see what good things have been achieved and what bad things have been committed against the fellow brothern and ultimately to God. Mr. Joseph proclaimed how God created a situation to pulverize his arrogance and called him to serve God. The session emphasized the importance of confession that purifies to lead a happy and holy life. There were priests to listen to the confessions of the members. Most of the members confessed and sought the blessings of God.
