Bachelor's of History is one of the traditionally academic subjects and very competitive with high entry standards for most decent universities. The main problem with it is that it doesn't lead into anything particular, Historians find themselves all over the place and there's no one career path that opens up with a degree in History. Although to be fair it's only really a problem if you look at it as a problem, the very open options can be seen as an advantage as much as a disadvantage; although don't go expecting to earn as much as people doing Engineering, Law or Medicine degrees unless you have a brilliant career.
