The Women Cell (Shift I) conducted a Special Awareness Programme for the UG Girls on 30.01.2024. It was well organized by the women cell staff members of the Department of Biochemistry, Microbiology & Chemistry. The Programme started with the invocation of God’s blessings. The Master of Ceremony was done by A. Sumaiya Fathima of II B.Sc Microbiology, followed by the welcome address and felicitation by V. Resha of II B.Sc Chemistry. Dr. A. Poongothai, Assistant Professor, PG and Research Department of Biochemistry introduced the Resource Person Mrs. R. Mahalakshmi, Head, Department of Food and Nutrition, Marudhar Kesari Jain College for Women, Vaniyambadi. The chief guest was honored by Dr. S. Kalaiarasi, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics. The chief guest in her talk elaborated the importance of Food and Nutrition for a Healthy life. She highlighted on various healthy aspects that has to be followed in our lifestyle such as how to maintain our body, the type of food and the nutrition required for a healthy life, fitness measures to follow and also stressed the main benefits ofan healthy diet in our day-to-day life, especially for the growing young girls who are the future mothers of their families. At the end of the programme, Inter-Departmental Competitions were conducted for the II and III UG Girls on the theme “Affordable Healthy Diet”. Competitions such as Poster Presentation, Healthy Food/Snacks/Soups –Display, Vegetable/Fruit Carving were conducted. The Chief Guest judged all these Competitions and announced the winners. She appreciated them for their enthusiasm and the interest that was shown towards this important topic. Finally, the Vote of thanks was given by Ms. A. Divya of II B.Sc Microbiology.
