On 08/07/2024, the NAAC Peer Team Comprising of Prof. J. Sadashiva Bhat, the Chairperson, Capt. (Dr.) Nitin P. Sonaje, Member Co-ordinator, Prof. Anup Kumar, Member, commenced their visit to Sacred Heart College, with a presentation by the principal, who highlighted the institution's vision, mission, achievements, and strategic plans. This was followed by interactive sessions with the Heads of various departments, discussing academic and administrative practices, research activities, and student support systems. The team inspected the laboratories of Computer Lab, Physics Lab, Chemistry Lab, Abdul Kalam Research Centre (AKRC), Media Lab, Incubation Centre, Central Instrumentation Centre, and the Biochemistry & Microbiology Lab. They also engaged with extra-curricular groups including NSS, NCC, Alternative Theater Movement (MNI), Red Ribbon Club (RRC), Family Counselling Centre, Gypsy Community Development, Self Help Groups, and Fine Arts to understand their impact on student development.
In the afternoon, the Peer Team visited the library, sports facilities, gymnasium, yoga centre, browsing computer centre, canteen, hostels, power house, health care centre, book store, stationery shop, bank, photocopier shop to assess their adequacy and service quality. The team also reviewed the placement cell and career counselling centre, followed by interactions with students, alumni, and parents to gather feedback on the institution’s support and development programs. Meetings with the IQAC, college office staff, and the office of the Controller of Examination were conducted to evaluate administrative and quality assurance processes. The evening concluded with cultural programmes by students, showcasing their talents, and a team discussion to review the day’s observations.
On 09/07/2024, the Peer Team continued their visit to various facilities focusing on safety and security measures, counselling services, accessibility features, skill development centre, solar panels, rain water harvesting, bio-waste management, and the meteorological observatory. Meetings with heads of various committees were held to discuss their roles and contributions to the institution. The team reviewed best practices and institutional distinctiveness, followed by a detailed session of report writing, checking documentary evidence, and addressing any outstanding issues with the Head of Institution and IQAC Coordinator. The afternoon was dedicated to finalizing the Peer Team Report, obtaining necessary signatures, and holding an exit meeting to summarize the findings and recommendations. The visit concluded with a comprehensive understanding of the college’s strengths and areas for improvement, aiming to enhance its quality and standards.
