The PG & Research Department of English organized A Two- Day Workshop on Theatrics between 10th and 11th July, 2024. The event aimed to bridge literature and theatre, enhancing creative expression, storytelling, understanding human experiences. The workshop focused on essential theatre skills that complement and enrich literature studies.                 The workshop aimed to foster an appreciation for theatre as an art form, emphasizing its ability to bring stories and emotions to life. Participants explored stagecraft, from script analysis to character embodiment, gaining a holistic view of theatrical production. The workshop also provided hands-on experience in performing a play, applying theoretical knowledge in a real-world context, sharpening acting skills and understanding the collaborative nature of theatre.              

The inaugural session featured Rev. Dr. K.A. Maria Arokiaraj, Additional Principal, Head (PG), Department of English emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches, Dr. J. Mary Jenif, Head (UG), Department of English outlining the workshop's objectives and Mrs. R. Rekha, Association President introducing Mr. N. Elango, the resource person. He engaged participants with interactive sessions on theatre and acting, focusing on self-awareness, emotional experience and practical exercises in expressive techniques. About 115 participants from the Department of English Shift-II attended the event and received their certificates.
