The Department of Zoology, Sacred Heart College (Autonomous), Tirupattur  organized an International Youth Camp under the MoU in association with the Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) Taichung, Taiwan. A special lecture on “Spider: Evolution and Theory” was conducted on 11^th July, 2024 at 9:15 am in Mother Teresa Hall . Dr. A. Jayaprakash, Head, Department of Zoology, felicitated the resource person with a memento and elaborated about the department. The resource person was Dr. Ren-Chung Cheng, Assistant Professor, Department of Life Sciences, National Chung Hsing University, Taichung City 402, Taiwan.
In his talk, Dr. Cheng elaborated on spider behavior, economic importance, sexual behavior and more. The lecture enlightened the students with enormous knowledge about spiders. He also encouraged students to focus and conduct research on invertebrate animals, with emphasis on Arthropoda. Dr. Cheng taught about the ecological role and survival strategies of spiders in various environments. The lecture provided valuable insights to the students about spiders and the phylum Arthropoda.
