The PG and Research Department of Biochemistry organized an invited talk and awareness program on “World Organ Donation Day” on August 13, 2024, at Oasis Hall. The morning session began with a prayer song, followed by an awareness program where students presented charts and distributed badges to promote the importance of organ donation, encouraging the college community to participate in this life-saving cause. The second session featured an invited talk conducted virtually. Dr. A. Jayaprakash, Head, PG & Ph.D., Department of Biochemistry, gave the felicitation address. Dr. M. Fernandusdurai, Head, UG Department of Biochemistry, introduced the resource person. The lecture was delivered by Dr. L.T. Vimalnathan, an Emergency Intensive Care Physician and Managing Director of Nathan Hospital. He shared extensive information about the field of organ transplantation, providing an in-depth overview of the medical, ethical and social aspects of organ donation. The speaker highlighted the critical shortage of organ donors and the immense potential of organ transplantation to save lives. The program was valuable in enhancing students' knowledge and awareness about organ donation.
