The Department of Life Education in collaboration with DBICA organised the two-day workshop on "Me and Media". It was successfully conducted at Sacred Heart College, Tiruppatur, on August 12th & 13th, 2024. Rev. Dr. Praveen Peter SDB inaugurated the event inviting the participants to be aware of its good and bad effects in life. The workshop aimed to address critical aspects of digital media addiction, influence, and usability while guiding students on how to use media effectively for their studies and career development. The session focused on understanding digital media addiction, its impact, and strategies to counteract passive consumption. Various presentations and audio-visual clips were used to highlight these issues and to promote media literacy and responsible consumption. Along, the session included interactive activities and film appreciation to engage students and deepen their understanding.
The workshop was conducted in two shifts and in four different halls for better participation and to accommodate all students, with Shift 1 attending in the afternoon and Shift 2 in the morning. The sessions covered several key topics: Digital Media Addiction, where participants explored the signs and consequences of addiction and strategies for managing it; influence and usability, focusing on how media affects behaviour and how to effectively use media tools for academic and career growth; and media literacy, emphasizing responsible consumption and improving media literacy. The interactive elements included presentations, activities, audio-video clips, and film appreciation, all designed to enhance engagement and understanding. About 1,348 students attended the event. The valedictory session was conducted on 13th evening. The organizing team Rev. Fr. Barathy Bernadsha (Campus Minister), Mr. Y Anand Jeya Prakash (Coordinator), Mr. J. Jintha & Mr. Pratap Pavan kumar (Asst. Professors & Skill Trainers) were also present for the workshop.
