The Eco Club and the All India Catholic University Federation (AICUF), Shift I, of Sacred Heart College (Autonomous), Tirupattur, organized a seminar on "Single Use Plastics Abatement and its Alternatives" on 18th September, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in Mother Teresa Hall. Mr. Mario Leo, Assistant Professor from the Department of Chemistry, was the resource person.
The seminar was arranged to raise awareness about the detrimental effects of single-use plastics on the environment and to discuss potential alternatives to mitigate the environmental impact. Mr. Mario Leo, with his expertise in chemistry, delivered an insightful presentation that covered both the scientific aspects of plastic pollution and the socio-environmental impacts.
Professor Leo emphasized the urgent need for abatement strategies to reduce reliance on single-use plastics, which contribute significantly to global pollution. He explored several eco-friendly alternatives to plastic, including biodegradable materials, reusable products, and innovations in recycling technologies. The session provided students and faculty members with actionable knowledge on how to contribute to reducing plastic waste in their daily lives. The event concluded with the Vote of Thanks
