Event Details

The PG and Research Department of English (Shift-II), Sacred Heart College, organized the State Level Inter-Collegiate competitions, ELLITES-2024, on 26th September 2024. The event began at 9:15 a.m in Kamarajar Arangam. Dr. Mary Jenif welcomed the gathering, and Rev. Dr. K.A. Maria Arokiaraj, Additional Principal, presented the dynamics of the day. Rev. Dr. D. Maria Antony Raj, Principal, delivered the inaugural address, emphasizing the significance of the PM Thomas Trophy, the victory trophy of ELLITES-2024. The event was graced by distinguished judges who brought their expertise and insight to the various events. Rev. Fr. Michel Viyakulam,  Department of Counselling Psychology at Sacred Heart College and Sr. Arul Arockia Mary, Superior at St. Charles Convent, Tirupattur served as the primary judges for the on-stage events. Their deep understanding of literature and language, coupled with their ability to assess creativity and presentation skills, ensured that the participants were evaluated fairly and thoroughly.

The competition featured 6 on-stage, 7 off-stage, and 4 online events, with 164 students from 11 colleges participating. On-stage events such as ADZAP, Literary Skit, and Quiz were held in Kamarajar Arangam, while off-stage events like Verse Writing and Mehndi took place in Mother Teresa Hall and Pope Francis Hall. Students displayed remarkable talent and enthusiasm, making the day an enriching experience for all involved.

The valedictory ceremony began at 4:15 PM, with special guests Mr. Praveen, founder of IAC, Prof. N. Arul Doss, Head, Department of English - Shift I and Mr. Sam Surya S., PG Head, Department of English, Don Bosco College, Yelagiri Hills, delivering inspiring speeches. Students expressed positive feedback, praising the platform for allowing them to showcase their skills. Mrs. Rekha, Assistant Professor, Department of English proposed the vote of thanks, acknowledging the contributions of faculty and participants. The event highlighted the importance of both competition and collaboration.

Prizes were distributed to the winners, with St. Joseph's College, Cuddalore, emerging as the Title Winner of ELLITES-2024. Participants from all colleges demonstrated true sportsmanship, and the entire event fostered a spirit of learning, creativity, and healthy competition. The program concluded at 5:30 p.m leaving a lasting impact on all participants and attendees.
