Event Details
The PG Department of Management Studies, Sacred Heart College (Autonomous) organized a dynamic and interactive event titled "Street Bites: Marketpreneurship" on 26-09-2024, which was aimed at providing the second-year MBA students with practical experience in entrepreneurship and sales management. The event was designed to help students develop their skills in sales, promotion, inventory management, and customer engagement.
The program was inaugurated by Rev. Father A.M.Matthew ,Counsellor,SDB who delivered an insightful and motivating speech on the importance of healthy eating habits, particularly emphasizing the significance of breakfast in our daily routine. He also advised students to avoid junk food and prioritize nutritious options, connecting the idea of healthy eating with sustainable business practices.
The students were divided into five teams, with each team tasked with either preparing their own food or sourcing items from outside vendors. The food items were then sold to their peers and faculty members within the college campus. This simulation of a real-world market environment allowed the students to experience the challenges and rewards of running a small business.
The event offered students valuable hands-on learning in key business areas:
Sales Techniques: Teams learned to attract customers and promote their food effectively.
Promotion: Creative marketing, including social media and word-of-mouth, helped teams connect with their audience.
Financial Management: Handling transactions and billing taught students basic accounting.
Inventory Management: Teams managed stock levels, balancing supply and demand.
Teamwork: Collaboration and responsibility-sharing strengthened leadership and teamwork skills.
Through this event, the students were able to experience the challenges of entrepreneurship firsthand. They learned how to balance customer needs with product availability, and they gained a better understanding of managing finances and promotions. This exercise also helped in fostering creativity, leadership, and teamwork, which are critical skills for future business leaders.
The "Street Bites: Marketpreneurship" event was a grand success, offering students an enriching practical experience that complemented their classroom learning. The lessons learned during the event will undoubtedly benefit them in their future careers. We extend our gratitude to Dr.S.Sasikumar (HOD) PG & Research Department of Management Studies for his guidance and to all the faculty and students who contributed to making the event a success.
