The Department of Extension Education and Services, Sacred Heart College (Autonomous), Tirupattur, organized a loan distribution programme aimed at empowering the gypsy community. This initiative sought to provide financial assistance to support their livelihoods and improve their socio-economic conditions. A total loan amount of 4,00,000 was distributed among seven beneficiaries as part of this programme.

The first phase of the distribution took place on 1st August 2024, during which 3,00,000 was disbursed to six individuals, each receiving 50,000. The second phase was conducted on 25th November 2024, when 1,00,000 was handed over to a single beneficiary. These funds were intended to assist the recipients in starting or expanding their small businesses, thereby enabling them to achieve self-reliance and improve their quality of life.

The loans were distributed by Rev. Dr. Praveen Peter SDB, Rector and Secretary of Sacred Heart College, and Rev. Dr. Shanmugam, Director of the Department of Extension Education and Services. Both dignitaries emphasized the importance of financial inclusion and entrepreneurship as tools for community development. They encouraged the beneficiaries to utilize the funds effectively and assured them of continued support from the college in their endeavours.
