The PG and Research Department of Social Work, Sacred Heart College (Autonomous), Tirupattur, organized an educational field work trip for the II MSW students (Batch 2023-2025) from 9th December 2024 to 13th December 2024. The trip was aimed to provide students with valuable practical exposure across various sectors, offering insights that enhanced their knowledge and equipped them with essential skills critical to their future professional success. On 9th December 2024, students visited the Basilica of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary, Karumathampatti. It was followed by a visit to St. Mary’s Children’s Home. At Elgi Ultra Pvt. Ltd., Coimbatore, students learned about manufacturing processes, workforce management, and Labour Laws through sessions led by Mr. Gopi (HR Manager) and Mr. Sebastian (General Manager). The visit to the Regional Science Centre, Coimbatore, highlighted the role of science and technology in addressing societal challenges and promoting innovation. On 10th December 2024, the students visited the Athirapally Waterfalls. They later explored Nitta Gelatin India Limited (NGIL), Kadukutty, Kochi, where they learned about the gelatin production process and industrial methodologies. The session, led by alumnus Mr. Antony Linsin, provided insights into industrial operations, labor practices, and sustainability. On 11th December 2024, students visited Fort Kochi. The visit allowed students to explore Kochi’s historic architecture, Chinese fishing nets, and cultural heritage. On 12th December 2024, students explored Vagamon Meadows and the Vagamon Pine Forest. The visit highlighted the importance of eco-social work and environmental sustainability. They later visited Shri Vasaprada Plantations Ltd. – Pullikanam Estate. On 13th December 2024, the final day began with a visit to the Mascow Tea Factory, Vagamon. Throughout the trip, daily evaluation sessions were conducted under the guidance of Dr. C.R. Christi Anandan, Dr. Clayton Michael Fonceca, and Ms. M. Latha Munuswamy. These sessions allowed each committee to share feedback, discuss challenges, and reflect on personal and professional learnings.
