The Department of Social Work (HRM), Sacred Heart College (Autonomous), Tirupattur, organized a One-Day National Conference on "Strengthening Inter-Generational Solidarity for Employee Well-Being" on 17th February 2025 at Carreno Hall. The conference brought together academicians, researchers, and students from various institutions to discuss and explore strategies for fostering inter-generational solidarity in the workplace. More than 220 participants from various institutions attended the conference, including representatives from Christu Jeyanthi College, Bengaluru; St. Joseph's University, Bengaluru; Government Arts and Science College, Palacode; Auxilium College, Vellore; Jain College, Vaniyambadi; Periyar College; Pondicherry University, Puducherry; Uris College, Vellore; VIT, Vellore; and MGR College. Students from Sacred Heart College (Autonomous) across various Departments, such as Business Administration, Commerce (Shift I & II), Commerce (CA), Master of Business Administration, Social Work (Aided), Social Work (HRM), Commerce (PG), and Economics (PG), also actively participated in the conference.

Dr. Baskaran delivered the Inaugural Address, emphasizing the importance of inter-generational solidarity for employee well-being. Rev. Dr. Shanmugam, Vice-Principal (Admin) Shift-II, presented the conference theme and objectives, highlighting the significance of generational diversity and collaboration in professional settings. Each session began with an introduction to the resource person, followed by their presentation on various sub-themes of the conference. Dr. R. Baskar from Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, spoke on "HR as a Strategic Partner in Building a Well-Being Culture." Dr. J. Raja Meenakshi from Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore, presented on "Fostering Inclusive HR Strategies for all Generations in the Workplace." Rev. Dr. P. Robert Ramesh Babu from Don Bosco College, Dharmapuri, discussed "Mental Health and Employee Well-Being in Industry." Dr. Premajyothi D from St. Joseph’s University, Bangalore, elaborated on "Enhancing Inter-Generational Communication in the Workplace: Integrating HR and Social Work Approaches for Enhanced Collaboration."

A poster presentation competition was held as part of the conference, where students showcased their research and ideas on the conference theme and sub-themes. Posters were evaluated based on clarity, content, and presentation. The valedictory function began with a welcome speech, followed by a video recap highlighting key moments of the conference. The valedictory address was delivered by Rev. Fr. G. Theophil Anand, Vice-Principal (Admin) Shift-I, who appreciated the efforts of the organizers and the active participation of students. A Lumbadi Dance performance by St. Joseph’s University, Bengaluru, added cultural vibrancy to the session. Trophies and certificates were awarded to the winners of the Poster Presentation competition. Participant certificates were distributed to all poster presenters and conference attendees. The certificate distribution was coordinated by Mr.Sebastian, Assistant Professor and Vote of Thanks was proposed by Mr.Selvanathan, Assistant Professor & Coordinator of the Conference. The event concluded with the college anthem and a group photo with the dignitaries. The One-Day National Conference successfully provided a platform for meaningful discussions and knowledge sharing on inter-generational solidarity in the workplace. The enthusiastic participation of students, researchers, and experts contributed to its success.
