The Department of English at Sacred Heart College successfully organized a two-day virtual Faculty Development Program (FDP) on February 24th and 25th, 2025, at 6 p.m. The FDP was organized on “The Need for Change in Teaching Pedagogies in the English Classrooms: New Perspectives” Participants from across the state and various parts of the country actively took part in the event, engaging in-depth discussions on the advancements in English teaching methodologies.
The event commenced with a welcome address and resource person introduction by professor N. Arul Doss, Head of the Department of English. In his address he emphasized the necessity of changes in English teaching and the importance of enhancing teaching strategies by adopting innovative pedagogical approaches.
On 24/02/25, Rev. Dr. K.A. Maria Arokiaraj, Additional Principal and Head of Research, Sacred Heart College, delivered a session on the need to introduce innovative teaching methodologies in English education and explored ways to address the challenges posed by the current education system.
On 25/02/25, Dr. K.T. Tamilmani, Associate Professor, Department of English, Nehru Memorial College (Puthanampatti), provided detailed insights on student-centered teaching, digital tools, and interactive teaching strategies. The program was organized by Dr. F. Julian Xercies Rigley, the president of the English Association.
This FDP served as a significant platform for educators to come together and explore transformations in teaching methodologies. Beyond traditional methods, it focused on incorporating technology-driven and experiential learning strategies to create an engaging and effective classroom environment for 21st-century learners.
