On January 27, 2025, at MT Hall, Sacred Heart College (Autonomous), Tirupattur,
Tamil Nadu, the Intellectual Property Rights Cell hosted a State-Level Technical Workshop on 'Fundamentals of Intellectual Property Rights: A Workshop for Young Innovators.'
At 10:00 am, a prayer song marked the commencement of the inaugural ceremony.
Dr. A. Royal Edward Williams welcomed the chief guest, faculty members, research scholars, and students from various colleges during the inaugural function.
Rev. Dr. Praveen Peter, Rector & Secretary, delivered the presidential address, and
Rev. Dr. D. Maria Antony Raj, Principal, highlighted the importance of the workshop. Dr. V. Collins Arun Prakesh introduced the chief guest, Prof. Dr. N. Ramapiran Ranjithsingh.
Prof. N. Ramapiran Ranjithsingh, Principal of Govt. Law College, Salem, highlighted the importance of intellectual property rights at all institutional levels. Dr. S.A. Martin Britto Dhas delivered the vote of thanks.
Prof. N. Ramapiran Ranjithsingh, Principal, Govt. Law College, Salem, delivered a lecture on 'Changing Dimensions of IP in the Era of Artificial Intelligence - An Analysis' in the first session. In the second session, Dr. A. Prabu introduced the speaker Dr. Preetam Balakrishnan from Tamil Nadu National Law University, Tiruchirappalli and the speaker delivered a lecture on 'Fundamentals of Copyrights and Geographical Indications (GI).' In the third session, Prof. Ihsan Mahmood Husai from Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University, Chennai, delivered a lecture on 'Legal Foundations of IP: Patents and Trademarks Demystified’.
This workshop was attended by faculty members from various colleges, research scholars, and students from the research forum of Sacred Heart College. A total of 141 attendees participated in the workshop. Rev. Dr. John Borg served as the chief guest for the valedictory function and delivered a message. The speakers interacted with the attendees and addressed their questions. The participants expressed their satisfaction, stating that the session had been highly beneficial for their research. Dr. A. Royal Edward Williams thanked Rev. Dr. John Borg, the resource persons, faculty members, and participants for their support and cooperation during the workshop.
