Event Details

The Department of Psychology, in collaboration with the Counselling Centre of Sacred Heart College (Autonomous), Tirupattur, organised the Psych Expo 2025–26 on the theme “Mental Health for Students” as a two-day awareness and educational programme on the 1st and 2nd of December 2025 at the DB Indoor Stadium. The event was conducted from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. on both days, aimed to promote mental well-being among students and provide experiential learning through various psychological demonstrations. The expo was inaugurated by Mr. A. Nallathambi, MLA, who emphasised the importance of mental health literacy for young adults and appreciated the department for fostering a positive environment for psychological growth. Mrs. V. Sangeetha Vengatesh, Town Chairman, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour and encouraged students to avail themselves of the counselling services offered by the college. The inaugural session witnessed the presence of faculty members, student coordinators and volunteers, creating an energetic beginning to the event.

The expo featured a wide range of psychological stalls prepared by students, covering topics such as Developmental Psychology, Love and Relationship, Motivation and Leadership, Memory and Learning, Emotions, Multiple Intelligence, Study Skills, Abuse and Addiction, Positive Psychology, Psychological Games, Counselling and Health Psychology. Each stall incorporated attractive models, charts, posters, demonstrations and interactive activities designed to spark curiosity and deepen understanding. Throughout the two days, students from various departments actively participated, interacted with the presenters and explored the various dimensions of psychology.

The valedictory ceremony marked a meaningful conclusion to the event. Rev. Dr. Theophil, representing the college management, delivered the valedictory address in which he acknowledged the hard work of the faculty and students, appreciated the educational value of the expo and encouraged the department to continue such impactful initiatives. As part of the valedictory programme, certificates were distributed to the III UG students, I & II PG Psychology students and FOLC students for their active participation, contributions and dedication in organising the stalls and managing the expo.

Overall, a total of 2535 people, including 1651 school students, 810 college students, and 74 staff members, participated in the psychology exhibition. The Psych Expo 2025–26 was a highly successful and enriching initiative that enhanced mental health awareness on campus and promoted experiential learning. It strengthened the students’ understanding of psychology, encouraged open communication about emotional well-being and highlighted the college’s commitment to fostering a mentally healthy, supportive and academically vibrant environment for all learners.
