The Placement Cell, PG & Research Department of English (Shift–II) of Sacred Heart College (Autonomous), organised an Orientation Programme on Career Opportunities on 21 January 2026 at 11.00 a.m.  The Orientation was conducted for the students to create awareness about diverse career paths and higher study options available after studying B.A. & M.A. English. The session was handled by Mr. U. Kamesh, Assistant Professor of English, Sacred Heart College (Autonomous), Tirupattur. The programme began with an introduction to the importance of career planning and the relevance of English studies in the contemporary job market. The speaker explained various career opportunities after B.A. & M.A. English. The session also highlighted higher studies available after both B.A. and M.A. English, including professional courses, diploma and certification programmes, and cross-major or interdisciplinary courses that enhance employability. A special segment on Myths vs Reality helped students understand that English offers wide job opportunities and that skills matter more than marks alone. The programme concluded with guidance on essential skills. The session motivated the final year students to plan their careers early, focus on skill development, and remain open to continuous learning. The programme was organised under the convenorship of Dr. J. Mary Jenif, Head and Mr. U. Kamesh, Placement In-charge, Dept. of English. Totally 36 final year students of both B.A. and M.A. English got benefitted.
