Event Details

To combat the spread of Covid-19 in Tirupattur District, the college collaborated with the government district administration to provide Covid-19 prevention home care kits and nutritional supplements to 500 families infected by corona virus. This novel initiative stemmed from the ‘Don Bosco Relief Service (INM)’ which aimed to provide adequate relief measures to the underprivileged during times of crisis. The project sort to reach 500 families by providing them with medical home care kits worth Rs. 3000 each, as well as protein-enriched dry rations worth Rs. 2000 per pack. The first phase of this novel initiative was inaugurated at Sacred Heart College (Autonomous) on 2nd June, 2021. The programme was launched by Thiru.M.P.Sivanarul, I.A.S. (District Collector - Tirupattur) along with Thiru.Dr.P.Vijayakumar, I.P.S. (Superintendent of Police – Tirupattur), Mr. A. Nallathambi (Tirupattur Constituency Assembly Member) and Mr.T.Mathiyalagan (Bargur Constituency Assembly Member).

More than 100 beneficiaries were personally given relief items, and Thiru.M.P.Sivanarul, I.A.S. (District Collector - Tirupattur) commended the college for its outreach efforts. He also stated that the Government is taking all necessary precautions and efforts on a daily basis to curb this pandemic. He further went on to say that appropriate plans had been put in place by the college and the district collectorate to provide home visits and distribute medical home care kits and protein-enriched dry rations to other beneficiaries. During this programme, Dr. Vikram Kumar (Doctor of Traditional and Siddha Medicine) was awarded the ‘Award of Excellence’ by the college administration for his selfless service in treating Covid-19  infected patients. The award was presented to him by Thiru.M.P.Sivanarul, I.A.S. (District Collector of Tirupattur).

This programme was graced by Rev.Dr.John Alex (Rector & Secretary), Rev.Dr.D.Maria Antony Raj (Principal), Rev.Dr.K.A.Maria Arokiaraj (Addl. Principal), Rev.Fr.S.Henry Daniel Ambrose (Director, Extension Education & Services) and other officials of the college. The event was coordinated by Fr. Sathiyanathan (College Administrator) along with Rev. Fr. J. Andrews Raj (Head, P.G. & Research Department of Social Work) and other faculty of the college.
