The PG and Research Department of Physics (Shift II) organized the Invited Talk titled Nanostructured Materials-Fundamentals and Applications on 14th September, 2022. Dr. M. Jose, PG Head, Department of Physics welcomed the gathering and delivered the inaugural address. Prof. C. Thirupathy, Head of the Department (UG) honored the speaker with a memento. Dr. M. Arivanandhan, Professor, Centre for Nanoscience and Technology, Anna University, Chennai was the resource person. The speaker gave an introduction to nanomaterials and explained why they are important, what made them so special for their fascinating applications in diverse fields. He explained about surface to volume ratio and quantum confinement effects. Furthermore, he presented about thermal, mechanical, optical and electrical properties of the nanoparticles and how these properties are size dependent. The speaker also motivated the PG students for higher studies and spoke about the opportunities for research with fellowship. Dr. P. Kannappan, the organizing secretary, delivered vote of thanks. About 57 PG Students, 15 Research Forum Students (Shift-II) and few Research Scholars participated in the event.
