The Department of Psychology along with Counselling Centre had organized “The International Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking Day” on 28th June, 2023.The Department of Psychology had kept a stall in the campus to create awareness about drug abuse. The II PG Students, Department of Counselling Psychology explained the demerits of using drug to the students. The stall contained the questionnaire to check the level of addiction, physical, psychological, social consequences and the treatment to overcome addiction. The cage questionnaire was explained to the students to assess their addiction level and different level of addiction was explained to the students. Rev. Dr. Praveen Peter, the Rector, Rev. Dr. Maria Antony Raj, the Principal, Rev. Dr. Maria Arockia Raj, Addl. Principal (Shift-II), faculty members and students of the college visited the stall. The I UG Psychology and Social Work (HRM) students were invited for an observational visit.
As a part of campus awareness, a stage programme was arranged to the students of Shift II in Kamarajar Arangam. Rev. Dr. Maria Arokia Raj, Addl. Principal (Shift II) introduced the department and the counselling centre to the students. Ms. Latha Munusamy, Student Counsellor introduced the Fullness of Life Club (FOLC) to the students. The students of III UG, Psychology created an awareness about the consequences of drugs with their mime and dance drama. Mr. Sunil Assistant Professor, Department of Psychology gave a talk on addiction and its consequences followed by Rev. Dr. Joe Sanjay, Head, Department of Psychology who conducted body movement therapy for the II UG students of Shift II. Mrs. Savitha, Vice Principal Academics (Shift II) proposed the vote of thanks. The programme was co-ordinated by Rev. Dr. Samson Shanmugam , Vice Principal (Shift II).
