The PG & Research Department of English, Sacred Heart College, Tirupattur organized a Workshop on Theatrics from 05/07/2023 to 06/07/2023. The prime objective of this workshop was to impart knowledge on Theatrics and be exposed to it. The aims were to understand and appreciate theatre art, stage acting and the experience of performing a play. During the inaugural session, Prof. J. Mary Jenif, Head, UG Department of English gave the dynamics of the programme. Rev. Dr. K.A. Maria Arokiaraj, Additional Principal and Head, PG & Research Department of English gave the felicitation address. Prof. U. Kamesh, Association President, Department of English introduced the resource person to the gathering.

The resource person Prof. N. Elango,Visiting Professor of PG & Research Department of English, American College, Madurai, Tamil Nadu, gave the over view of the workshop to the gathering and began the first session with an interaction. He introduced the participants to the world of theatres and art. He taught the participants to know themelves. He introduced the audience to Stanislavski's theory, the art of experience, emotional experience and subconscious behaviour. The resource person explained the full set-up of the stage, the divisions of the stage, the light setting, breaking the fourth wall and the proscenium theatre. He encouraged the participants to enact the last scene of the play Othello during in the valediction of the workshop.

On 06.07.2023 at 4.30 Pm. the workshop concluded with valediction, where the Additional Principal gave the valedictory address, students gave their feedback and the resource person Prof. Elango inspired and motivated the participants to make use of the opportunities that are available to them. About 70 participants from the Dept. of English Shift-II, Sacred Heart College attended the workshop. The workshop was beneficial, enriching and motivated the participants to bring out their talents.
