UG Admission Guidelines
Eligibility for Admission
- Canadidate for admission to the first year of the UG degree programme shall be required to have passed higher secondary examination conducted by the Govt. of Tamil Nadu in the relevant subjects or other examinations accepted as equivalent by the syndicate.
- The ultimate responsibility for admission made shall only with the Principal of the College and the admission committees.
- In selecting candidate for admission to several courses, the Government order on communal reservation policy, issued by the Government of Tamil Nadu from time to time, has to be strictly followed.
- In selecting candidates for admission under sports quota the Government order (G.O.MS.No.466 Dated:08-06-1994) issued by the Government of Tamil Nadu, which directs to provide a Sports Quota of 3% in Under-Graduate Courses.
- Under any circumstances the Total Number of candidates admitted to any branch of study should not be exceeded the strength sanctioned by the University. (Circular No. TU/R/UG-PG Adm/2003-2004 Dated:16th June 2003).
- It is also mandatory on the part of the College Administration, to be more vigilant during admission, and the Principal Should make necessary arrangements to verify all the certificates before admitting them to any course and a record of the name and signature of the person who verified the certificates should be maintained
- All the Self Financing Colleges are also expected to follow the specific norms issued by the Government with regard to admission of students.
- Eligibility Certificate in case of students who have passed the higher secondary examination other than the Govt. of Tamil Nadu.
- A Statement showing the number of candidates admitted according to the Reservation Rules has to be sent to the University immediately after the admission is over
Duration of the Course
- The course shall extend over a period of three years comprising of six semesters with two semesters in one academic year.
- There shall not be less than 90 working days for each semester.
- Examination shall be conducted at the end of every semester for the respective subjects.
PG Admission Guidelines
Eligibility for Admission to the Course
- A candidate who has passed the Degree Examination , generally as main subject of study of this University or an examination of any other University accepted by the Syndicate as equivalent thereto shall be eligible for admission to the Master Degree of this University.
- No student shall be eligible for admission to a Master's degree programme in any of the faculties unless s/he has successfully completed a three year undergraduate degree or earned prescribed number of credits for an undergraduate degree through the examinations conducted by a University / Autonomous Institution or possesses such qualifications recognized by the University as equivalent to an undergraduate degree.
- Provided that candidates for admission into the specific main subject of study shall also possess such other qualifying conditions as may be prescribed by the University in the Regulations governing respective courses of study.
Duration of the Course
- The course shall extend over a period of two years comprising of four semesters with two semesters in one academic year.
- There shall not be less than 90 working days for each semester.
- Examination shall be conducted at the end of every semester for the respective subjects.
- A student may clear all the courses in a minimum of two years and a maximum of 4 years
PG-Diploma Admission Guidelines
Eligibility for Admission to the Course
A candidate who has passed the Degree Examination in this University or an examination of any other University thereto shall be eligible for admission to the PG-Diploma Degree of this University.
Duration of the Course
The duration of the programme is one academic year consisting of two semesters. In order to be eligible for the award of the degree, the candidate should successfully complete the programme within two years considered from the date of enrollment in the first semester of the course.
MCA and MBA (AICTE Courses) Admission Guidelines
Eligibility for Admission to the Course
As a Regular Student:
Candidates who have passed the under mentioned degree examinations in any recognized institution or as equivalent thereto, provided they have undergone the programmes under 10+2+3 pattern.
- B.C.A/B.E.S./B.Sc. in Computer Science /Mathematics/Physics/Statistics/Applied Sciences with Mathematics as one of the subjects at the Higher Secondary level (i.e., in +2 level of the 10+2 pattern)
- B.Com. / B.Com CA / Bachelor of Bank Management / B.B.A. / B.L.M. / B.A. Corporate Secretaryship / B.A. Economics / Any other Bachelor's Degree in any discipline with Business Mathematics and Statistics or Mathematics / Statistics in main/allied level.
- B.E./B.Tech
As a MCA Lateral Entry Student (Admitted direct in Second Year):
Candidates who have passed the under mentioned degree examinations in any recognized institution or as equivalent thereto, provided they have undergone the programmes under 10+2+3 pattern.
- B.C.A / B.Sc. in Computer Science with Mathematics as one of the subjects at the Higher Secondary level (i.e., in +2 level of the 10+2 pattern)
Duration of the Course
To fulfill the requirements for acquiring MCA, a student may clear all the courses in a minimum of three years and a maximum of 6 years and for MBA, a student may clear all the courses in a minimum of two years and a maximum of 4 years
M.Phil. Admission Guidelines
Eligibility for Admission to the Course
Research students of M.Phil programme are expected to acquire a broad knowledge in all areas of computer applications, and an overall perspective of the field, its structure, and its problems. They are expected to study at least one area (field of interest) in considerable depth and to make substantial contributions to that field through creative research ideas.
Students should be able to advance the basic understanding of information processes and to contribute to the creation and consolidation of knowledge in computer applications. In addition, they should be able to see and understand new problems within computer applications and other fields, to find imaginative solutions for them and to carry them through.
Candidate with Master's Degree with not less than 55% of marks. All candidates should have passed two / three year PostGraduate degree programme.
Duration of the Course
The duration of the programme is one academic year consisting of two semesters (August to July). In order to be eligible for the award of the degree, the candidate should successfully complete the programme within two years considered from the date of enrollment in the first semester of the course.
