The Department of Extension Education and Services (DEEDS), Sacred Heart College, Tirupattur in collaboration with NABARD, Tirupattur organized One Day Training for Field Workers on 04^th January, 2024. About 10 NGOs field workers attended the training programme. Dr. D. Shanmugam, Director, Department of Extension Education and Services (DEEDS) welcomed the gathering. Dr. T. Selvam, Assistant Professor, Department of Social Work delivered the presidential address and spoke about roles and importance of NGOs in promoting SHG movement. Mr. Aruldoss, Family Counselor felicitated the gathering and he spoke about networking and liasoning skills for the field workers. The first session Role of Field Workers in SHG/JLG Lending, Repayment and Recovery was handled by Mr. Aruldoss, Senior Counselor, DEEDS. During his session, he spoke about social mapping, introduction to SHG/JLG, credit linkage procedures, recovery methodologies and people mobilization for development initiatives. The second session Essential Skills for the Field Workers for Rapport Building and Laisoning with Bankers and Government Departments was handled by Dr. T. Selvam Assistant Professor, Department of Social Work and presented with live activities for the participants. The third session One Stop Centre, Department of Social Welfare, Tirupattur was handled by Ms. Dhanalakshmi Counselor, One Staff Centre. She explained about the important acts for the protection of women from domestic violence, atrocities against women and dowry. The fourth session District Child Protection Unit, Tirupattur was handled by Ms. Deepa, Out Reach Worker. She engaged the participants with activities and games. She also explained about acts related child protection against child labour, child abuse and child rights. The fifth and final session Current Status and Role of NGO in Promoting SHGs, Role of Business Correspondence, MFIs, TNSRLM, Role of Field Works in Promoting Government Programmes and Role of NABARD in Promoting SHG/JLG, Credit Linkage, Training Programmes and E-Shakthi was handled by Dr. D. Shanmugam Director, Department of Extension Education and Services (DEEDS) and he spoke about the promotion, organization and development of SHGs indicate the complexity of the process and also the multiple tasks to be performed by the NGO field staff. Dr. D. Shanmugam distributed the certificates to the participants. Mr. Aruldoss delivered vote of thanks.
