One Day Workshop on “Bioinformatics: Molecular Docking and Network Pharmacology in Drug Discovery” was organized by the PG and Research Department of Biochemistry on 06.02.2025 at Carreno Hall. Dr. A. Poongothai welcomed the gathering. Rev. Dr. G. Rev. Dr. G. Theophil Anand SDB, Vice Principal Admin (Shift-I) with a memento. Rev. Dr. G. Theophil Anand SDB gave the Inaugural address for the workshop. In his inaugural address, he explained about the importance of drug discovery and advised the students to get expertise with the pharmacology production. He also congratulated the department for organizing this workshop in a scrupulous way. Dr. K. Sheela, PG Association President introduced the resource person with her warm words. The resource person, Dr. Monisha Prasad, Assistant Professor, Community Medicine, Saveetha Medical College and Hospital, Chennai in his lecture elaborated on role of computational techniques in drug discovery. She explained the significance of molecular docking in predicting drug-target interactions and highlighted the impact of network pharmacology in understanding complex biological systems. In the demonstration session, she showcased various software such as Avogadro, MGL Tools, and BIOVIA Discovery, and provided training to students on their laptops. Finally the Heads of the department Dr. A. Jayaprakash PG & Ph.D Head and Dr. M. Fernandus Durai UG Head gave the Valedictory address for the workshop. He congratulated the students and faculty members of the department for organizing the workshop on bioinformatics and distributed the certificates for the outside participants. Ms. D. Hemamalini, III Biochemistry proposed the vote of thanks. The master of ceremony of the programme was done by Mr. A. Divine Rahul of III-UG. Totally there were 25 outside participants from various colleges attended the workshop. Overall the workshop was a grand success. Overall the workshop benefitted the
students and was a grand success.
