The Youth for Social Responsibility (YSR) of Sacred Heart College (Autonomous), Tirupattur, in collaboration with the Department of Forest and Osai Trust, organized an orientation programme titled Green Yelagiri on 18th February 2025 at Kamarajar Arangam. The event aimed to create awareness about environmental conservation and sustainability initiatives in the Yelagiri and Jawadhi Hills. The Chief Guest for the event was Thiru. M. Mahendran, I.F.S., District Forest Officer, Tirupattur Division, and the Guest of Honour was Thiru. Chinnaswamy, Chairman of Osai Trust. The programme commenced at 10:30 AM with a prayer song, followed by a welcome address delivered by R.J. Akshaya from YSR. Rev. Dr. K.A. Maria Arokiaraj, SDB, Additional Principal, SHC, highlighted the day's dynamics, emphasizing the significance of environmental initiatives.

An audio visual presentation showcased the activities of YSR, followed by a felicitation address by Rev. Dr. Praveen Peter, SDB, Rector and Secretary, SHC. Rev. Fr. Andrews Raja, SDB, HoD - MSW, elaborated on the College Green Movement, underscoring the institution’s commitment to environmental conservation. Thiru. Chinnaswamy introduced Osai Trust and its various initiatives towards ecological preservation. The orientation talk was delivered by Thiru. M. Mahendran, I.F.S., who shared insights into afforestation efforts and sustainable environmental practices. Thiru. Cholairajan, Forest Ranger of Tirupattur, spoke about Green Yelagiri and Jawadhi Hills, detailing conservation strategies and community participation in reforestation projects. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by S. Srinidhi from MSW, expressing gratitude to all dignitaries, faculty members, and students for their active participation. The event was well-coordinated, with G. Dharani Priya from YSR serving as the Master of Ceremony.
