The inaugural function marking the Silver Jubilee of the M.Sc. Physics Programme was held on 10th July 2025 at 2:30 PM in Carreno Hall. Dr. M. Jose, Head (PG Physics), delivered the Welcome Address, extending a warm welcome to all dignitaries, faculty members, alumni, and students. The dignitaries Rev. Dr. Praveen Peter, the Rector, Rev. Dr. D. Maria Antony Raj, the Principal, and Rev. Dr. G. Theophil Anand, the Additional Principal offered felicitations, highlighting the college's commitment to academic excellence and moral values, appreciation for the glorious 25 years of M.Sc Physics programme, its remarkable achievements, shared insightful reflections on the department's growth trajectory, recognized the faculty's dedication in maintaining high academic standards and emphasised the importance of science education in nation-building. Mr. D. Daniel Lawrence, Head (Shift-I) presented a comprehensive overview of the department's milestones and acknowledged the collaborative efforts of faculty and students. They also spoke with pride about the distinguished academic and administrative journey of both the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour, expressing their joy in welcoming them back to their alma mater as a symbol of inspiration for the students.
The Guest of Honour, Dr. J. R. Pazhaniswami (Batch: 1978–81), an esteemed alumnus of Sacred Heart College and Retired District Science Officer, delivered a brief heartfelt address. He recollected his college days, shared loving memories that deeply resonated with the students. He encouraged students to study with dedication and give back to their alma mater in the future as a gesture of gratitude. In a generous gesture, he announced an establishment of a scholarship of Rs. 2,00,000/- (Two Lakh Rupees) to the deserving students of the department as well as instituted an endowment fund of Rs. 50,000/- (Fifty Thousand Rupees) in memory of Padmashree Prof. M. Anandakrishnan, the renowned educationist and visionary, and former Vice Chancellor of Anna University, Chennai. The Chief Guest, Dr. S. Kadhiravan (Batch: 1987–90), Member–Syndicate, Dean–Social Sciences, and Senior Professor & Head, Department of Psychology, Periyar University, delivered the keynote address. The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Mr. C. Thirupathy, Head of UG Physics (Shift-II). The event served as a joyful reflection of the legacy of the department and inspired everyone to continue striving for academic and societal excellence.
