On August 28, 2025, Sacred Heart College (Autonomous) in Tirupattur, in collaboration with the Government Community Health Centre, Andyappanur, successfully hosted an impactful awareness program titled "Shine Without Substance." The event, organized by the college's Youth for Social Responsibility (YSR) Team a student led initiative group, was a crucial step towards fostering a drug-free society. The welcome address was delivered by Mr. Mahendra Varman and inaugural remarks by Rev. Dr. Praveen Peter, SDB, the college's Secretary and Rector.
The core of the event was the informative and interactive sessions led by healthcare professionals. Dr. Soundariya, an MBBS, and Dr. Sriram, conducted an interactive talk, delivered a awareness speech. They both focused on the severe mental and physical health issues caused by alcohol and drug abuse, providing students with critical insights into the dangers of substance use. Their speeches were instrumental in raising awareness among the youth.
The program also saw participation from key college dignitaries, including Rev.Dr. Mary Antonyraj, the Principal, Rev.Dr. Theophil Anand, Additional Principal, and Dr. Shanmugam, Vice Principal (Admin), who offered felicitation addresses. Their presence highlighted the institution's strong commitment to student well-being and social responsibility. The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks from Mrs. C.S. Kalpana, Counsellor, Government Health Centre, Andiyappanur, acknowledging the collective effort that made the program a success. The entire event was a testament to the dedication of the YSR forum students, who meticulously planned and executed the program.
