The Department of B.Com(CA) organized a Workshop on Yoga and Self-Defence on 19th August 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with the objective of promoting health, wellness, and personal safety among students. The session aimed to create awareness on the importance of physical fitness, mental balance, and self-protection skills in everyday life.

The resource person for Self-Defence was Mr. M. Manigandan, B.Com (CA), M.Sc. (Yoga), DYBT, Karate and Silambam Master. He holds a 4th Dan Black Belt in Karate (India), 1st Dan Black Belt in Japan, and 3rd Dan in Silambam. Mr. Manigandan demonstrated a variety of self-defense techniques including blocking, escaping, and counter moves to handle difficult situations effectively. His session emphasized confidence-building, presence of mind, and the significance of self-discipline in martial arts.

The resource person for Yoga was Mr. V. Ramesh, B.P.Ed, PGD in Yoga, Diploma in Bharatanatyam, and Varma Specialist. He is the recipient of the Best Yoga Teacher Award (2020) and Best Yoga Master Award (2025), with several achievements at district, state, national, and international levels. Mr. Ramesh conducted a practical yoga session focusing on breathing techniques, meditation, and simple asanas to improve concentration, flexibility, and stress management. He highlighted how yoga contributes to a healthy lifestyle and inner peace.

The workshop provided a valuable platform for students to understand the balance between physical strength and mental stability. The interactive demonstrations encouraged active participation and motivated students to adopt healthy practices in their daily lives.

Overall, the workshop was highly informative and inspiring, equipping the participants with essential life skills of self-care, wellness, and self-defense.
