Event Details

The “Sardar @ 150 Unity March” was conducted on 24 November 2025 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart College (Autonomous), Tirupattur, commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The event aimed to promote the ideals of national unity, integrity, and patriotism among the youth.

The programme began with the rendition of Tamil Thai Vazhthu, after which Dr. G. Mohan Gandhi, NSS Programme Officer, delivered the welcome address. This was followed by the presidential address from Rev. Dr. D. Maria Antony Raj, Principal of Sacred Heart College, along with Rev. Dr. G. Theophil Anand, Additional Principal of Shift II, who together highlighted the vision of Sardar Patel and the importance of national integration.

Distinguished guests present included Rev. Fr. S. Henry Daniel Ambrose, Vice Principal of Shift I, and Rev. Dr. D. Shanmugam, Vice Principal of Admin Shift II, whose presence added significance to the event. Shri J. Traveen Charleston, Deputy Director of MY Bharat Kendra, Vellore, delivered the programme address, emphasizing youth empowerment and national responsibility.

The central part of the programme was the official flag-off of the Unity March and administration of the unity pledge by Smt. V. Shyamala Devi, Superintendent of Police, Tirupattur District. Her message motivated all participants to uphold unity and harmony as core national values.

Felicitation was offered by Dr. U. Ramesh and Dr. A. Arokia Nepolean Raj, both NSS Programme Officers. The winners of the Essay Writing and Drawing Competitions, conducted in connection with the Unity March, were awarded during the ceremony, acknowledging their creativity and contribution.

Dr. B. Chandra Sekar delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all dignitaries, organizers, faculty members, NSS volunteers, and students for their cooperation and enthusiastic participation. The event concluded with the National Anthem, symbolizing collective respect and unity.

The “Sardar @ 150 Unity March” successfully fulfilled its objective of instilling a deeper sense of national unity among young people, aligning with the legacy of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and the mission of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
