Sacred Heart College (Autonomous), Tirupattur, observed Constitution Day with great enthusiasm on 25th November 2025. The programme was jointly organised by AICUF and NSS on the theme “The Role of the Indian Constitution in Protecting Fundamental Rights.” The event aimed to create awareness among students about the democratic values, liberties, and duties enshrined in the Indian Constitution.
The celebration was held at Carreno Hall at 2:00 PM, with faculty members, NSS volunteers and AICUF members, The programme began with a brief introduction highlighting the significance of Constitution Day and the importance of understanding citizens’ rights and responsibilities. The organisers emphasized how the Indian Constitution stands as a guiding force in upholding justice, equality, and freedom for all.
The chief guest for the session was Mr. Maria Michael Nithyn, Assistant Professor, Department of History, Sacred Heart College. In his insightful address, he explained the evolution of the Constitution, the vision of the framers, and the continuing relevance of Fundamental Rights in ensuring the dignity and protection of every citizen. He stressed that rights and duties are interconnected and that young citizens must remain vigilant in safeguarding democratic principles. His examples from contemporary social issues helped students clearly understand the real-world implications of constitutional protections.
The session also encouraged students to reflect on the importance of active citizenship and the role of youth in preserving constitutional values. The programme concluded with a pledge and vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the administration, guest speaker, and student volunteers for their contributions.
