On 12th January 2026, a significant community-driven lake cleaning drive was successfully conducted at a key local water body in Tirupattur, Tamil Nadu. The initiative, spearheaded by Tirupattur Corporation under the leadership of District Collector Tmt. Sivasoundravalli K, IAS, brought together volunteers, local residents, and officials to address environmental conservation and promote sustainable waste management practices.
The event commenced with active participation in the lake cleaning process. Volunteers equipped with gloves, nets, and cleaning tools removed accumulated waste, including plastic debris, organic matter, and other pollutants from the lake's surface and surrounding banks. This hands-on effort not only improved the lake's aesthetic and ecological health but also highlighted the direct impact of human activity on natural water resources. Approximately 200 participants, including our team, contributed over three hours, collecting several bags of waste and restoring visibility to the water body.

Addressing the gathering, the District Collector emphasized the critical importance of waste segregation at source as a foundational step toward a cleaner environment.
