Department of Extension Education and Services (DEEDS) and Youth for Social Responsibility (YSR) of Sacred Heart College (Autonomous), Tirupattur, successfully organized a Mega Medical Camp – 2026 on 29th January 2026 at Don Bosco Indoor Stadium, Tirupattur, in collaboration with the Government Primary Health Centre, Andiyappanur, Dr. Agarwal’s Eye Hospital, Tirupattur, and Good Samaritan Eye Hospital, Matrapalli. The medical camp was specially organized for Women Self Help Group members and their family members, aiming to promote preventive healthcare and early diagnosis.
The programme commenced at 10.00 a.m. with the soulful rendition of Tamil Thai Vazhthu, setting a respectful tone for the event. Rev. Dr. Shanmugam SDB, Director of DEEDS and Vice-Principal (Shift–II), delivered the welcome address and formally felicitated the dignitaries present. Felicitation addresses were delivered by Rev. Dr. Praveen Peter SDB, Rector and Secretary of Sacred Heart College, Rev. Dr. D. Maria Antony Raj SDB, Principal, and Rev. Dr. G. Theophil Anand SDB, Additional Principal, highlighting the institution’s commitment to community health. Dr. Soundarya, MBBS, Block Medical Officer, Government PHC, Andiyappanur, addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of regular health check-ups, especially for women.
The camp offered comprehensive medical services including general health check-ups, Blood Glucose, Cholesterol, Haemoglobin, Urin Test, Dental Checkup, TB, Thyroid, Eye screening, ECG, Echo, Siddha consultation, and medical counselling. A total of 713 beneficiaries availed themselves of the medical services, reflecting the programme’s wide reach and impact. The camp ensured accessible and quality healthcare support for marginalized communities. The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Ms. C. S. Kalpana, Medical Counsellor, PHC, Andiyappanur, acknowledging the efforts of organizers, medical teams, volunteers, and participants.
