The Valediction of Academic Associations, Groups & Movements and Outreach Programmes of Sacred Heart College, was solemnly and gracefully conducted on Tuesday, 03rd February 2026, at 11.15 a.m., in the Kamarajar Arangam.
The programme began on an august note with a solemn procession of the dignitaries and student representatives, symbolising the continuity of leadership and the collective academic journey of the institution.
The Welcome Address was delivered by the esteemed principal, Rev. Dr. D. Maria Antonyraj, who graciously welcomed the dignitaries and participants and formally introduced and honoured the Chief Guest. In his address, he alluded to the inspiring feat of Ukrainian boxer Vasyl Lomachenko, whose double triumph in boxing stands as a testament to discipline and perseverance. He highlighted the vital role played by academic associations, student movements, and outreach initiatives in shaping socially responsible and intellectually vibrant individuals.
Following this, Rev. Fr. S. Daniel Ambrose, Vice Principal, Shift–I (Administration), presented a comprehensive overview of the meticulously planned activities of the academic associations, groups, movements, and outreach programmes for the academic year 2025–2026.
The event was further enriched by the release of the outreach newsletter and department news reports. A spiritually uplifting Thanksgiving Prayer Service, led by Rev. Fr. Xavier Raj, Campus Minister, offered a moment of reflection and gratitude, anchoring the academic celebrations in values of humility and service.
One of the most significant moments of the programme was the laying down of the insignia and the award of appreciation to student leaders, facilitated by Dr. A. George Maria Selvam, Vice Principal (Academics), and Dr. T. Jeyabalan, Dean of Studies and Head, Department of Chemistry. This symbolic act honoured the dedication, leadership, and service rendered by the outgoing office bearers.
The Valedictory Address was delivered by the Chief Guest, Dr. P. Vinayaga Moorthy, Member–Syndicate, University Librarian and Head, Department of Library and Information Science, Thiruvalluvar University. His thought-provoking address emphasized the transformative power of knowledge, and language. His ideas left an indelible impression on both students and faculty. Adding a vibrant artistic dimension to the ceremony, a dance performance by the students captivated the audience. The programme drew to a gracious close with the Vote of Thanks proposed by Dr. Sandrilla, Head, Department of Data Science, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Management, dignitaries, faculty, students, and organizers for their collective effort and cooperation.
