The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit IV of Sacred Heart College (Autonomous), Tirupattur organized a social outreach programme titled “A Day of Care & Compassion” on 6^th February 2026 at 09.30 a.m. at Mahatma Old Age Home, Kadirimangalam, Tirupattur.

The objective of the programme was to inculcate compassion, social responsibility, and humanitarian values among NSS volunteers and to provide emotional support and companionship to the elderly residents. The visit aimed to help students understand the challenges faced by senior citizens and to promote the motto of NSS, “Service to Humanity is Service to God.”

The programme was conducted under the guidance of the NSS Programme Officer. The volunteers actively interacted with the elderly inmates, engaged in friendly conversations, by creating a joyful and comforting atmosphere. Volunteers also distributed essential items like soap, oil etcand refreshments, expressing solidarity and care towards the elderly inmates. The residents shared their gratitude and appreciated the thoughtful gesture of the students.

The programme concluded successfully with heartfelt gratitude expressed by the Old Age Home authorities. The activity left a meaningful impact on both the volunteers and the elderly residents
