The Inaugural Function of the Bridging Course for the academic year 2026–2027 was organized by Sacred Heart College (Autonomous), Tirupattur, on 01 June 2026 at 8.30 a.m. in Kamarajar Arangam. The programme was conducted to welcome the newly admitted students and to familiarize them with the academic environment, institutional values, and various opportunities available at the college. The programme commenced with a prayer song rendered by Dr. Henston and his team, invoking God's blessings for the successful conduct of the course and the academic journey of the students. The gathering was warmly welcomed by Rev. Dr. G. Theophil Anand SDB, Additional Principal of Sacred Heart College, who encouraged the students to make effective use of the bridging course to develop their communication skills, confidence, and academic preparedness.
The Principal, Rev. Dr. Praveen Peter SDB, delivered the Principal’s Message and highlighted the importance of higher education, discipline, and holistic development. The Chief Guest’s Address was delivered by Rev. Dr. Ignatius Stanley Lawrence SDB, Rector and Secretary of the College. In his inspiring speech, he emphasized the significance of character formation, value-based education, and personal growth. The session on Bridging Course Instructions was presented by Dr. J. Mary Jenif, Head, Department of English (Shift-II). She explained the objectives, schedule, and expected outcomes of the bridging course and provided detailed guidance regarding participation and assessment procedures. Dr. B. Seenivasan, IGNOU Coordinator, addressed the students on the various educational opportunities available through IGNOU and highlighted the benefits of pursuing additional certificate, diploma, and degree programmes.
The Bridging Course for the academic year 2026–2027 is coordinated by Fr. Xavier Raj, who plays a pivotal role in planning and implementing the course activities. The inaugural programme was effectively coordinated by Dr. Shanmugam, whose meticulous planning and organization ensured the smooth conduct of the event. The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Dr. S. Savitha, Vice Principal (Academics), who expressed gratitude to the management, dignitaries, faculty members, organizers, and students for their active participation and support. The function ended with the College Anthem, fostering a sense of unity and belonging among the newly admitted students.
