
Department of Extension Education and Services (DEEDS), Sacred Heart College (Autonomous), Tirupattur, in collaboration with DBSARC, Tiruvannamalai, organized the Distribution of Livestock Support Programme for the Gypsy Community with the objective of strengthening their livelihoods and improving their socio-economic conditions. The initiative aimed at empowering marginalized families by providing them with sustainable sources of income through livestock assistance. The programme commenced with a prayer song, seeking God's blessings for the success of the event and the well-being of the beneficiaries. Mrs. Sagayamary, Gypsy Desk Coordinator, delivered the welcome address and extended a warm welcome to the dignitaries, beneficiaries, and participants.
Rev. Dr. Shanmugam, Director of DEEDS, explained the dynamics and objectives of the day's programme. In his address, he emphasized the significance of livelihood support in empowering vulnerable communities and encouraged the beneficiaries to utilize the livestock assistance effectively to ensure long-term economic stability and self-reliance. The Chief Guest, Rev. Fr. Ignatious Stanley Lawrence, Rector and Secretary of Sacred Heart College, delivered the keynote address. He underlined the institution's commitment to social responsibility and inclusive development, stressing the need to stand in solidarity with marginalized communities.
The highlight of the programme was the distribution of livestock support to the members of the Gypsy community. Rev. Fr. Ignatious Stanley Lawrence and Rev. Dr. Shanmugam jointly distributed the livestock assistance to the beneficiaries. The recipients expressed their heartfelt appreciation for the support provided, which they believed would contribute significantly to their family's livelihood and financial security. The programme concluded with the singing of the National Anthem.
