
Inauguration of the Academic Year 2026–2027 for Shift–II students of Sacred Heart College (Autonomous), Tirupattur, was held on 15 June 2026 at 1.25 p.m. at the Kamarajar Arangam. The programme began with a prayer service led by Rev. Dr. Xavier Raj SDB, Campus Minister, and Dr. Henston, Assistant Professor, Department of English, invoking God's blessings upon the institution, faculty members, and students as they embarked on a new academic journey. Following the prayer, Rev. Fr. Ignatius Stanley Lawrence SDB, Rector and Secretary of Sacred Heart College, formally welcomed the gathering and introduced the Salesian members to the students, highlighting the Salesian spirit of service, dedication, and commitment to education that guides the institution.
The newly appointed office bearers and staff members were then introduced to the student community by the Additional Princiapl. Rev. Dr. G. Theophil Anand SDB, Additional Principal, Sacred Heart College, delivered a meaningful address to the students, conveying the Academic Year Message and encouraging them to pursue excellence through discipline, hard work, integrity, and active participation in academic and co-curricular activities. He emphasized the importance of utilizing the opportunities provided by the institution for holistic development and becoming responsible citizens.
Rev. Dr. Praveen Peter SDB, Principal, addressed the students and shared his vision for the academic year, motivating them to strive for success while upholding the values and traditions of the college. He also stated the lives of Sachin Tendulkar and Vinod Kambli. The programme also witnessed the release of the college journals and books by Dr. Nahren Manuel M., Dean of Research, reflecting the institution's commitment to scholarly pursuits and research culture.
The Chief Guest, Rev. Dr. Don Bosco Lourdusamy SDB, Provincial and Chairman, Province of Chennai, delivered an inspiring message, urging students to make the best use of their college years by nurturing their talents, maintaining moral values, and contributing positively to society. The rules and regulations of the institution were then explained by Mr. D. Rajkumar, Dean of Students, and Dr. Mary Jenif, Dean for Women Affairs, enabling students to understand their responsibilities and the code of conduct expected within the campus.
The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks proposed by Rev. Dr. Shanmugam SDB, Vice Principal (Admin), Shift–II, who expressed sincere gratitude to the management, dignitaries, faculty members, office bearers, students, and everyone involved in organizing the inaugural function. The event was efficiently compered by Mr. P. Praveen of III B.A. Tamil and Ms. R. Thennila of III B.Com. (CA). The inauguration of the Academic Year 2026-2027 concluded with College Anthem.
