Report on the Competitions conducted in view of International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking Programme and Rally

Eco Club of Shift-II

The Department of Extension Education and Services, in association with the Groups and Movements of Shift-II, Department of Physics, and Youth for Social Responsibility (YSR) of Sacred Heart College (Autonomous), Tirupattur, organized a special awareness programme to commemorate the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on 25 June 2026. We the Eco Club, join in the rally and the students of Eco Club were participated. The programme aimed to create awareness among students and the public about the harmful effects of drug abuse and the importance of preventing illicit drug trafficking.

The programme commenced with a Rally at 9:30 a.m., which started from the District Collectorate by Mr. G. Ravi Kumar, IAS, District Collector, Tirupattur District and concluded at Sacred Heart College. The Students of Eco Club, faculty members, and volunteers actively participated in the rally by carrying placards, displaying awareness slogans, and spreading the message of a drug-free society among the public.

The Awareness Programme began at 10:00 a.m. at Kamarajar Arangam. The event was graced by  Mr. Akshay Anil Wakhare, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Tirupattur District, as the chief guests. They addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of staying away from drugs, making responsible life choices, and working collectively to eradicate drug abuse from society. Their inspiring speeches encouraged students to become ambassadors of awareness and contribute towards building a healthier and safer community.

The programme was conducted under the patronage of Rev. Fr. Ignatius Stanley Lawrence, SDB, Rector & Secretary, Rev. Dr. Praveen Peter, SDB, Principal, and Rev. Dr. G. Theophil Anand, SDB, Additional Principal. The event was successfully coordinated by Rev. Dr. Samson Shanmugam, SDB, Vice Principal (Admin), Shift-II, and Rev. Dr. Bharathi Bernadsha, SDB, Director-CIBI, Sacred Heart College, Tirupattur.

In this connection, to create the awareness among Eco club (shift II)  students, the like Essay writing (Tamil and English) and Drawing competitions on the theme of DRUG ABUSE  were conducted on 24^th June 2026. The following students were performed well,

The prize winners were honoured by the chief guests. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the chief guests, management, faculty members, student volunteers, and participants for their wholehearted support. The awareness programme successfully fulfilled its objective of educating students and the public about the dangers of drug abuse and reinforcing the collective responsibility of creating a drug-free society.
