Sacred Heart College
Youth for Social Responsibility (YSR), Shift-II, and Department of Extension Education and Services (DEEDS), Sacred Heart College (Autonomous), Tirupattur, organized an awareness programme in observance of World Day Against Trafficking in Persons on 30th July 2026 at 11.30 a.m. in Kamarajar Arangam. The programme aimed to create awareness among students about human trafficking, its causes, consequences, and the collective responsibility to prevent this social menace. The programme commenced with a prayer song rendered by Dr. Henston & Co., Department of English, invoking God's blessings for the successful conduct of the event. Ms. Roobini. I, 3rd B.Com (CA) – YSR member, warmly welcomed the gathering and highlighted the significance of observing World Day Against Trafficking in Persons.
The gathering was felicitated by Rev. Fr. Ignatius Stanley Lawrence SDB, Rector and Secretary, Rev. Dr. Praveen Peter SDB, Principal, and Rev. Dr. G. Theophil Anand SDB, Additional Principal, who emphasized the importance of safeguarding human dignity, promoting awareness, and encouraging students to become responsible citizens committed to protecting vulnerable individuals from exploitation and trafficking. The Chief Guest, Mr. C. Murali, M.Sc., M.Phil., Deputy Superintendent of Police, Tirupattur, delivered an insightful address on the growing challenges of human trafficking, various forms of exploitation, legal provisions, preventive measures, and the vital role of students and youth in identifying, reporting, and preventing trafficking-related crimes. He encouraged the students to remain vigilant, spread awareness in society, and support the protection of women's and children's rights.
The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks proposed by Ms. Keerthika G., III B.A. English – YSR, expressing gratitude to the management, chief guest, dignitaries, faculty members, and students for their valuable presence and support. The programme ended with the College Anthem. Master of Ceremony responsibilities were efficiently carried out by Mr. Mohidheen, 3rd History and Ms. Nathiya S., 3rd B.Com (CA) – YSR, ensuring the smooth flow of the programme. At the end of the programme, the Singapen Team addressed the students on women’s safety, creating awareness about personal safety, legal rights, self-protection, and the importance of reporting incidents of harassment and violence. Their interactive session motivated students to remain alert, confident, and proactive in ensuring a safe and secure society.
