Sacred Heart College
Youth for Social Responsibility (YSR), Shift-II, Department of Extension Education Services, Sacred Heart College (Autonomous), Tirupattur, organised a Road Safety Awareness Programme on 21 August 2026 at 10:45 a.m. at Kamarajar Arangam, Sacred Heart College, Tirupattur. The programme was conducted in collaboration with the Tamil Nadu Transport & Road Safety Department under the theme “100K Safe Road Mission in 90 Days.” The programme aimed to create awareness among students about road safety, traffic regulations, responsible road-user behaviour and the importance of preventing road accidents. The initiative encouraged young people to become responsible citizens and ambassadors of road safety.
The programme commenced with a Prayer Song, by Dr. Henston & Co., Department of English. Rev. Dr. G. Theophil Anand, SDB, Additional Principal, Sacred Heart College, Tirupattur, delivered Welcome. Followed by Rev. Fr. Ignatius Stanley Lawrence, SDB, Rector and Secretary, Sacred Heart College, Tirupattur. Rev. Dr. Praveen Peter, SDB, Principal, Sacred Heart College, Tirupattur, also delivered a felicitation address and encouraged the participants to take road safety seriously.
The Chief Guest Address was delivered by Mr. K. Panneer Selvam, D.C.E., B.E. (Mech.), M.S.W., Road Safety Expert and Regional Transport Officer, Tirupattur. He highlighted the importance of following traffic rules, maintaining discipline on roads and adopting safe practices to reduce road accidents and protect human lives. The programme continued with the Vote of Thanks proposed by Ms. Akshaya, III B.Com (CA), YSR, who expressed gratitude to the chief guest, college management, faculty members, YSR Teams, DEEDS and students for their valuable participation and support. The programme concluded with the College Anthem. Mr. Bharani and Ms. Keerthna, II Year – YSR, Department of English, served as the Masters of ceremony. The event was meticulously coordinated by Rev.Dr. Shanmugam SDB, Vice-Principal (Admin) Director-DEEDS.
