Sacred Heart College (Autonomous), Tirupattur District, marked a significant step towards promoting holistic wellbeing among its students and faculty with the inauguration of the Shalom Wellness Hall on 20th August 2026. The Wellness Hall was envisioned as a dedicated space for silence, meditation, self-reflection, emotional renewal, inner peace and tranquillity. Conceived by Rev. Dr. I. Joe Sanjay, OFM Cap., Head, Department of Counselling Psychology (PG), the initiative seeks to provide an inclusive and peaceful environment for all. The establishment of this space reflects the institution's commitment to the holistic development of students and faculty, recognising that education extends beyond academic achievement to encompass emotional, psychological, spiritual and social wellbeing. The Shalom Wellness Hall was inaugurated in the presence of the College administration, heads of departments, faculty members and other members of the academic community. Rev. Fr. Stanley Lawrence Ignatius, Rector and Secretary of Sacred Heart College (Autonomous), graced the occasion as the chief dignitary. The inauguration commenced with a prayer offered by the Rector, invoking God's blessings upon the new initiative and all those who would make use of the Wellness Hall. Following the prayer, Rev. Dr. Praveen Peter, Principal of the College, ceremonially cut the ribbon and officially opened the Shalom Wellness Hall. Rev. Fr. Selvaraj Varaprasadam, College Administrator, expressed his gratitude to the Rector, Principal, Vice-Principals and the Salesian Management for their vision. Rev. Fr. S. Henry Daniel Ambrose, Vice Principal (Admin. – Shift I), led the gathering in prayer and reflection. Following this, Rev. Dr. I. Joe Sanjay, OFM Cap., the visionary behind the Wellness Hall, led the gathering in a spiritual and reflective session. The session introduced the participants to the significance of silence, contemplation, meditation and inner reflection.
