The 24^th of May is an auspicious day for all Salesians as we celebrate the Feast of Mary Help of Christians, the Principal Patroness of the Society of St Francis de Sales. Sacred Heart College had the joy of hosting for this year 2023, the Renewal of Vows of 21 young Salesians who renewed their vows and themselves to serve the Lord in the footsteps of St John Bosco, our father and founder.

            The brothers arrived one day early and spent time in recollection. The recollection talk was given in the evening followed by Adoration service, during which the brothers were given the opportunity to make their confession.

            The renewal ceremony took part during the Holy Eucharistic celebration on 24^th May, 2023 in the Sacred Heart Shrine, Tirupattur. It was presided over by Rev. Fr. John Alexander, our former Rector and Secretary, who has been newly appointed as the Vice-Provincial of the Salesian Province of Chennai, who received the vows of the brothers as the representative of the Rector Major of the Salesian Congregation. Fr. Maria Antonyraj SDB, the Principal and Fr. Maria Arockiaraj SDB, the Additional Principal participated as official witnesses to the renewal of vows.

            It was indeed a joyous occasion to see the young Salesians committing themselves to God to serve the poor and the young. May God bless their generosity and give the necessary graces to remain faithful to Him and to the vows they have renewed. We wish them all the best for their life and ministry – to be instruments of God’s love to all, especially to the poor young people.
